Technology Partners

The technology partners command a great deal of know-how in the development of smart home systems, the formulation of use cases as the basis for description, the implementation of middleware and the development of comprehensive testing and assessment procedures for quality assurance. They actively bring this knowledge to the project while adopting an open position in terms of the eventual technology.

The technology partners moderate the technical aspect of setting up the certification programme and formulate initial use cases together with the companies involved, thereby making an active contribution to establishing the programme.

DAI-Labor at TU Berlin

The Distributed Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (DAI-Labor) and the department of "Agent technologies in business applications and telecommunication" (AOT) at the Technische Universität Berlin, headed by Prof. Dr. Sahin Albayrak, engage in research and development and carries out teaching in order to develop and provide technologies for a new generation of services and distributed systems, smart services and smart systems.

DAI Labor carries out pure research in various fields in six competence centres. Once developed, the technologies are used for creating smart services in various key application-oriented areas. Functional test beds are used for validation and demonstration purposes. Intensive cooperation with industrial companies ensures a practical and solution-oriented approach. This allows DAI Labor to develop within a university environment, technologies which also meet the highest industrial demands.

Kellendonk Elektronik

Kellendonk is an independent engineering company with 100 employees which develops hard and software especially for industrial companies.

In doing so Kellendonk always keeps the development and pursuit of new technology approaches at the limit of what is technically feasible. This is because electronic development solutions are becoming increasingly complex as the result of rising customer demands and shorter development cycles. Kellendonk therefore concentrates and multiplies expertise in the key disciplines and technologies which customers are currently only considering but which they will be demanding in the near future.

The EEBus networking technology developed by Kellendonk permits information to be exchanged between all technical devices in homes or companies. The overriding goal is to achieve a significant improvement in energy efficiency.

VDE Testing and Certification Institute

The VDE Testing and Certification Institute is a nationally and internationally accredited institution in the testing and certification of electro-technical devices, components and systems. It tests these electrical products for safety, electromagnetic compatibility and other product characteristics. Founded in 1920, the VDE-backed testing institute is based in Offenbach and commands international know-how. The results of the tests are scientifically evaluated and are fed into the further development of electrotechnical standards.

Smart home systems pose new challenges for the integration of complex systems. In close collaboration with the DKE German Commission for Electrical, Electronic & Information Technologies of DIN and VDE, the VDE Institute develops new test procedures and standards for interoperability, IT security, data security and functional safety.
